Bridal session adventure

As we navigated our way through downtown Dayton, I could feel the buzz of excitement and possibilities in the air. We passed cobblestone streets lined with fussy homes exuding old charm only to turn the corner to find brightly painted weathered buildings. It was all there, living in harmony and throwing off a sense of adventure.

We soon found our first stop--a deserted ally with perfect lighting. As Arial turned to face the camera, I realized just how blue her eyes were against the green and purple hues that claimed the rough building. Fashioned in her glamorous wedding dress that matched our surroundings seamlessly, the only word to describe her is stunning. With a serious look Arial asked, What should I do? My response? Be yourself. Take cues from my cat calls and always remember the lines of your body. With that, the adventure began. I watched her as we climbed up old dirty loading docks and ran through streets and marveled that Arial seemed to mold to the surroundings like she was born to model that dress.
We chatted through our session like old biddies and laughed like kids with a secret. I can't believe it was just last summer I was married, Arial states as we both gaze down the road where her vintage wedding was held. She then dived into stories of her beautiful babies, Mikah and Shae. From these stories, I find Arial to be passionate and caring, a devoted wife and mother who values family.

As the sun starts to fade, we rush to get in a few more shots that I later find seems romantic and dreamy--just like the day of her wedding and I feel so lucky that this is what I do.

Thank you Arial for our fun filled day!

Kara + Scott = Owen

This past Saturday--the first beautiful day in weeks (cue happy dance)--I was fortunate enough to spend it with the fabulous Brockman family! We spent the day at the University of Dayton. The excitement was high and our options were endless as far as beautiful backgrounds went. As we walked around the charming court yards and fields of lush grass, I found myself falling in love with this family.

Kara and Scott (Mom and Dad) explained they’d met in Xenia public schools early on in life and instantly felt a connection. They then described attending college together at UD and pointed out familiar buildings with reminiscent smiles.

Kara and I walk ahead of the group and, as she describes their wedding as if it were yesterday, I began to think the story was more like what you hear from a beloved grandparent or great aunt. You know, the kind that makes your heart turn into a rabbit’s thumping foot with understanding at just how rare a dependable love found so early in life can be. More rare is being devoted enough to see it through.

In the years to follow, they decided to add an addition to the family--cute little baby Owen, with his big blue eyes and endless supply of giggles, he compliments the family like the cherry on top of your favorite ice cream sundae.

As they gracefully interacted like a beautiful dance in front of the camera, I am drawn to believe that God led me to this place behind a camera to document love stories that words cannot sufficiently describe—only an image of the charging electric can capture the special magic shared by this special family.

I have a vision of the future where the gray-haired Brockmans are sitting, holding hands, and showing off the pictures I’ve taken for them—cherished memories which have captured the heart of their love story and proving that fairy tales and happy endings really do exist.

 Owens gentlemen applause

We found this wonderful sanctuary garden and Owen had a great time peaking from behind this sculpture at some students who had him giggling.

My favorite from our session! Owen looks so pleased to get kisses from his Mom and Dad!

PS. Happy Birthday Owen!
